When we were young (or small as ken calls it), the happening occasions were the birthday parties, christmas parties or those that involved lotsa presents and pure fun.
As we get older, our idea of gatherings became going to Coffee Bean or other places just to sit down and catch up.
Then, we get ourselves into more and more of our friend's 18th birthdays.. 21st birthdays.. club, chiong or whatever you call it. that's the stage at which most of my friends are now. i pondered bout 10 or 20 years later.. i suppose our idea of gathering would start from attending wedding dinners and then having meetups with our spouses and kids... and sooner of later.. its the funerals.
as usual, the gathering will the peepz are always fun. for as long as 10 years.. a decade of friendship.. we survived it all. despite many disagreements and differences, we are still one cohesive group of the undecisive community. forever not knowing where to go, where to eat and what to do next.
iris was back and so there was a dinner gathering organised at crystal jade's. and being part of the indecisive community.. i made the one in australia decide. *laughs*
proceeded down to coffee bean and then to Conrad's for coffee and some liquer.
iris asked when im going to get married. then i wondered again, why do people get so anxious about marriage? does marriage signify a new beginning?
do people get married because they think after 10 years, its the next thing to do... or they think that they have reached a point in time where if you dont get married then its break up... or is time a major factor.
why cant people get married to partners 7 years their age, why cant people get married 3 months after courtship? why cant people get married to someone who is not physically attractive?
are people getting married these days because of societal norms.. or not tying the knot because the society says its too young. why is getting married at 23 too young for a male? or 20 too young for a female. is it financially? intellectually or maturity? i suppose its different for every couple
i always tell my buddy.. if you feel its the right time.. just go ahead. dont bother about what the rest thinks. if you know its the right time, the right guy.. do it the nike way and you'll have my support.
speaking of which, please do not jump the wagon and think im getting married. im no commitment phobic, neither do i think that my boy is not the right one. i think we girls (or maybe just me..) have a dream kind of wedding.. of course whether or not it'll come true is a different matter altogether.
for me and my boy.. i think the right time will come when i graduate, find a job and both of us become financially stable. lets be practical, being in a relationship means wanting it to last till thy kingdom comes. if you're in it for monetary, sexual or whatever reasons i cannot think of.. then i think we have different terms for it? like sugar daddy or a fuck buddy or whatever.
my dear boy was so sweet the other day when i told him the fortune teller predicted something bad will happen between us.
he just said.. "dont worry, ive settled my heart for you and no one else.."
okie, im melting already. *grin*
gonna hit the bed.. if not i'll miss my class again tomorrow. and yes.. i have classes on saturdays. *bah*
laters.
